League Orientation
Golfing in the cold and rain is not ideal. Nobody hopes to be golfing in those conditions however individual players have different ideas of what is playable and what is not playable, therefore WGN is implementing a rain or shine policy which falls in line with most golf course policies.
With that said, we are always trying to define the weather and are always on weather watch! If there is bad weather on the front, we are determining with the golf course the best way to proceed based on the type and severity of the weather.
- For “chance of rain or light rain”, you will not receive communications from us regarding weather and it will be expected that you arrive at the course. If the weather shifts you will receive communications and further instructions or options.
- If there is “short downpour or a passing storm” over the golf course, in most cases these are passing storms so please plan to still arrive at the course. You will receive communications from us confirming playability, providing updates, offering instructions or options.
- In instances of “storms, torrential rain, or severe weather” or if the forecast confirms in advance steady all day rain, you will receive “weather watch” communications from us letting you know that we are watching the weather, coming to a decision on playability with the instruction of the golf course, offering further instruction or notifying you of either playability or game cancellation.
Unfortunately, the weather forecast is not always accurate even up to a few hours or 30 minutes prior, but this is the nature of the game. Although fair weather golfing is preferred by some, it is expected that there will be days that won’t present the most ideal conditions.
If weather is in the mix - PLEASE DO NOT CALL THE GOLF COURSE - the WGN Rep is hard at work with the Golf Course GM to obtain instruction and get communications out to you. As well, the Pro Shop becomes overwhelmed with players coming off the course, and some staff who answer the phone may not be informed.
AIR QUALITY
Please ensure you are watching the air quality leading up to your round, and if you are unsatisfied 72 hours prior with the current conditions, please cancel your round to insure a full credit for your green fee and relieve the prospect of golfing in unsatisfactory conditions. It is unlikely the golf courses will honour rain checks for poor air quality when the conditions have been long standing.
This tab is applicable in situations where you have started your round and have had a stoppage of play due to weather.
If you are on the course when any of the following conditions occur, you will need to retrieve your paper rain check individually from the pro shop - immediately upon packing it in. Rain checks must be collected on that day, prior to going home.
- It is proven to be a lasting storm that presents substantially undesirable conditions agreeable by the golf course, or
- The golf course blows the horn and pulls players off due to lightening or severe weather.
Depending on the golf course, they will offer one of two types of rain checks. If you are unsure which type of rain check they offer, please call the course from where you are to ask, or ask at the pro shop upon collecting.
TYPES OF RAIN CHECKS
- A $ credit based on the number of holes you had remaining in your game.
- A full or partial 9 or 18 hole credit based on the number of holes you played. This credit is offered in the following way:
FULL RAIN CHECKS FOR 9 HOLES
You will receive a 9-hole raincheck up until the 3rd hole. You will need to retrieve your raincheck individually from the pro shop. If you have played beyond the 3rd hole and decide to leave, the golf course is not obligated to provide a raincheck.
FULL OR PARTIAL RAINCHECKS FOR 18 HOLES
Rain checks will be issued based on the number of holes you completed before the stoppage of play. You will need to retrieve your raincheck individually from the pro shop. It is the discretion of the golf course what is deemed unplayable.
Rain checks may not be used in WGN league, these are for use outside of the league.
This tab is applicable in situations where weather is being assessed by WGN PRIOR to you starting your round.
Should the golf course deem the course unplayable due to weater PRIOR to players arriving at or hitting the course, Paper rainchecks will be standard for the season, however Account rainchecks may be provided on a scenario basis.
PAPER RAINCHECKS
- If you choose not to play or the course is deemed unplayable a paper raincheck will be provided.
- This paper raincheck can be collected from the WGN rep that day at the golf course - or it can be collected from the WGN representative at your next game.
- Unfortunately, paper rainchecks are not reusable within the league. These are good until the end of the golf season and are bookable directly with the golf course outside of the Women’s Golf Network.
- Paper rainchecks will not be delivered or mailed - it is up to each player to collect it from the WGN rep at the course (either that day or at a subsequent round). Paper rainchecks must be collected by the last day of WGN league.
- A digital record of the paper raincheck will be added to your WGN account for reference - until the physical paper raincheck is collected from the WGN rep.
- Please allow 2 business days for us to add a digital record of the paper raincheck to your account.
- Players will sign to accept the physical raincheck and the digital raincheck will then be removed from your WGN account. Any uncollected rainchecks will expire at the end of the WGN season.
ACCOUNT RAINCHECKS
You may receive weather communications with the option to cancel your tee time and have a raincheck added back to your account for future use.
- If you choose to cancel - you will immediately need to cancel your tee time in the WGN app (or online).
- The system will confirm that it is a late cancelation and send you an email notifying of loss of green fee. PLEASE DISREGARD THIS, IT IS A SYSTEM DEFAULT.
- Please allow 2 business days for us to manually add the digital raincheck to your account.
- Rainchecks must be used for that specific golf course within the WGN season. If you do not use your digital raincheck within the WGN season it will expire.
- You will see your raincheck within your "Passes" tab in your account.
- Tee time cancelations are accepted up until 72 hours prior to the scheduled tee time without penalty or loss. Green fees will be credited to your WGN account as a pass for future use with that specific golf course.
- At any time and without fee, players may request a refund of the green fee pass to their account, applied as a dollar credit for use with any golf course green fee throughout the season.
- A Green fee refund to the credit card used for purchase may be requested at any time and is provided less 7% transaction fee.
- Upon canceling a tee time, players will receive a cancelation confirmation with the above options listed.
- You may leave the pass on your account for future use with that course or reply to the email with refund or account credit request.

Meeting in the clubhouse after a game and congregating around large group tables was an automatic event in the past and it is something that over the last few years, had been greatly missed.
With that said, casual post game socials have returned! Come into the clubhouse after your round with your group, or on your own - you will find a crowd of WGN ladies enjoying a post game social with food and drinks.
I hope we answered your questions and gave you a good understanding of what to expect from the Women’s Golf Network this season.
